NOTICE OF RACE and Alteration 1 & 2 |

1. Rules |
||
1.1 The Series will be sailed under the Racing Rules of Sailing (2009-2012) (RRS), the Prescriptions of the RYA, IRC Rules 2011 Parts A, B and C, RORC IRC Rating System as modified in NOR 5.2, CYCA Handicap Rule, ISAF Special Regulations and this Notice of Race all as modified by the Sailing Instructions. This alters RRS 63.7. 1.2 For classes other than IRC rated classes, RRS 52 (MANUAL POWER) is amended to the extent that yachts may use stored power for the adjustment and operation of running rigging. Boats in the IRC classes shall comply with IRC Rule 15. |
2. Advertising |

2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority. |
3. Eligibility, Entry and Fees |

3.1 The regatta is open to yachts in the following classes :
3.2 IRC and CYCA class divisions, and One Design classes will be decided after close of entry. Provisional divisions will be shown on the event website www.brewindolphinscottishseries.com. Where in the opinion of the Organizing Authority insufficient numbers of any particular One Design justify a separate start, yachts may be invited to race within the IRC or CYCA classes or race as a class or classes under CYCA or PY handicap. 3.3 Classes may be altered, divided and amalgamated or yachts moved between classes at the discretion of the organisers. 3.4 Yachts wishing to compete in a class other than that in which they have entered shall notify the organisers in writing not later than 1200hrs on Friday 20 May 2011. 3.5 Yachts entering the IRC Class shall have a Safety and Stability Screening (SSS) minimum base value of 8 or International Standard 12217-2 Design Category C. 3.6 Yachts having a CYCA handicap greater than 21.5 mins will be accepted as entries only at the discretion of the organisers. 3.7 The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry and/or to ask all or any yachts to complete further undertakings or declarations before accepting any entry. 3.8 Entries shall be made on the interactive entry form on the website www.brewindolphinscottishseries.com or printed, completed and returned to Clyde Cruising Club, Suite 101, Pentagon Centre, 36 Washington Street, Glasgow G3 8AZ. Email office@clyde.org. 3.9 Fees are as detailed on the entry form. 3.10 On payment of the entry fee, the owner of each yacht will be an Associate Member of Clyde Cruising Club for 2011 3.11 Entries received after Friday 20 May 2011 will be accepted only at the discretion of the organizers. 3.12 If cancellation of an entry reaches the organisers before 20 May 2011, the whole fee except £50.00 will be refunded. No other refunds will be made. |
4. Registration and Schedule |

4.1 Each yacht shall register prior to 17:00 on Friday 27 May 2011 at the Race Office at Templar Hall, Harbour Street, Tarbert. 4.2 A Crew List detailing addresses, telephone/mobile and emergency contact information for all crew must be lodged with the Organising Authority before the first race. Any additions to a crew list must be submitted to the Race Office in writing prior to the additional crew racing. A signed statement of responsibility from an adult will be required for crew aged 14 years or less 4.3 Racing on Friday 27 May to Monday 30 May 2011 is scheduled to start each day at 10.30. 4.4 Yachts will be allocated classes and divided into three fleets as detailed in the Sailing Instructions. |
5. Handicap Certificates, IRC Crew Limits |

5.1. Yachts in the IRC Classes shall submit a copy of their rating certificate before or on registration. 5.2 IRC 22.4.2 is deleted and replaced by “The maximum number of crew that may sail aboard a yacht shall be as detailed below. There is no weight limit.”
5.3 The organising authority may request yachts to carry one or two journalists or cameramen for publicity purposes. If they are carried they will be additional crew to the crew limits and will take no part in the crewing of the yacht. |

6. Sailing Instructions and List of Entries |

6.1 The Notice of Race, Draft Sailing Instructions and List of Entries will be available on the event web site www.brewindolphinscottishseries.com 6.2 Sailing Instructions will be posted on the event website on or before 18 May 2011. 6.3 Subsequent amendments to the Sailing Instructions will be posted on the event web site and also on the official notice board at Tarbert. |
7. Venue and Courses |

7.1 The Regatta Harbour is Tarbert on the west side of Lower Loch Fyne, Chart No 14 in Admiralty Folio SC5611. 7.2 The racing areas will be in the waters of Loch Fyne and it is intended that start lines will be no more than 4 miles from the Harbour. 7.3 The courses to be sailed may be windward/leeward, triangle, trapezoid, or with variations, and inshore passage including the “Scottish Round the Island Race”. |
8. Scoring |

8.1 Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series. 8.2 When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a yacht’s series score will be the total of her race scores. |
9. Minimum Equipment Regulations |
||
9.1 Yachts in all IRC and CYCA classes shall comply as a minimum with ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Category 4 minus lifejacket lights, 5.01.1(c)), spotlight, 4.23.2(b), and handheld VHF, 3.29.1(e). It is recommended that all yachts carry VHF equipment. All other ISAF safety regulations for ISAF Cat 4 will be taken as published and valid on the dates on which the series is running. 9.2 Yachts shall not be permitted to carry anchors over the bow stemhead fitting. Anchors 9.3 Yachts racing in separate One Design Classes shall comply with the minimum equipment regulations in their class rules. 9.4 One Design yachts invited by the Organizing Authority to race in the IRC and CYCA classes in accordance with NoR 3.2 shall comply with ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Category 5 and carry a VHF set. 9.5 The Race Committee reserve the right to inspect any yacht to verify that the regulations |
10. Arbitration |

| 10.1 An Exoneration Penalty and a modified version of the RYA Rules Disputes Procedures will be available. |
11. Prizes |
||
| 11.1 Individual prizes may be presented in each class in each race and on overall points. A Daily individual race prize giving will take place at 19:00 as part of the evening social programme. The main event prize giving is scheduled to take place at 1800 hours on Monday 30 May. |
12. Responsibility |
||
12.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4 Decision to Race and Special Regulation 1.02.1. The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 12.2 Nothing done by the organizers can reduce the responsibility of the owner/skipper, nor will it make the organizers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the racing. The organizers encompass everyone helping to run the race and the event, and include the organizing authority, the race committee, the race officers and other helpers. 12.3 The provision of event management boats does not relieve the owner/skipper of their responsibilities. 12.4 The fact that the race committee conducts inspections of a boat does not reduce the responsibilities of the owner/skipper. |
13. Insurance |

| 13.1 The owner/skipper is required to ensure that the yacht has adequate insurance and in particular to hold insurance against third party and passenger claims in the sum of at least £2,000,000. |
14. Rights to use names and likenesses |
||
| 14.1 Competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority and their sponsors without payment, the right in perpetuity to make, use and show any photographs, motion pictures and live, taped or filmed television of, or relating to, the event. |

Alterations to Notice of Race |

| Alteration 1
4.5 Bangor Tarbert Inbound Race from Bangor NI starting at 18.00 on Wednesday 25 May for all yachts that meet ISAF Special Regulations Category 3 with the alteration to allow life raft and/or dinghy with capacity for all the crew. This race will be for the Boyd Tunnock Cup. This race does not count towards the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series points and separate sailing instructions will be issued. Alteration 23.13 The Round the Island Race on Sunday 29 May for yachts in the CYCA classes of Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series is also open to all yachts with a valid CYCA handicap as set out in NoR 3.1 in addition to yachts entered for the series. A list of positions for all yachts entered for the Round the Island Race alone and as part of the series will be provided; the positions of yachts entered solely for this race will be excluded from the listing used for the series scores. |
