About the Scottish Series

Tarbert harbour

Since 1975 Clyde Cruising Club has hosted the Scottish Series. It is now a firm fixture on the sailing calendar and takes pride of place as Scotland’s largest annual sailing event.

Each year the Scottish Series attracts around 200 visiting yachts to Tarbert on Loch Fyne, plus over 1200 crew and a large number of visitors, estimated at 1800, bringing the quiet village to life over the racing weekend.

Sponsored since 2000 by investment managers Brewin Dolphin, previously Bell Lawrie, the Scottish Series is a fusion of many exciting elements, from competitive sailing to social activities ranging from a spectacular fireworks display and live music to exciting entertainment for children.

The 2011 Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series takes place during the bank holiday weekend from Friday 27 May to Monday 30 May on Scotland’s stunning West Coast. There are 14 classes on three different race courses as well as pre-regatta Tarbert Inbound Races, which set off from Bangor, Northern Ireland and Inverkip on the West Coast of Scotland on Thursday 26 May.

The Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series includes racing for the following classes: IRC Classes 1-5, CYCA Classes 6-10, Sigma 33, Sonata, RS Elites and Sportsboats. So there is something for every sailing enthusiast.

Whether you’re racing or spectating, everything you need to know about the Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series is right here at your fingertips to guarantee the most the memorable visit to Tarbert.
